Wool, Natures Magic Fibre
Wool offers a multitude of benefits, including natural temperature regulation, moisture-wicking properties, durability, and health advantages. It is also a sustainable and fire-resistant fibre, making it a luxurious and versatile material for clothing, bedding, and home textiles, ensuring you feel pampered and indulged.
Keeps you warm and cool: Wool's natural crimp and coiled spring-like fibres create tiny air pockets that trap heat, insulating you in cold weather. In warm weather, it wicks moisture and heat away from the skin, helping to keep you cool.
Moisture-wicking: The fibres can absorb a significant amount of moisture vapour without feeling damp, which helps regulate your body temperature and keeps you dry and comfortable.
Durability and elasticity
Wrinkle-resistant: Wool is like a coiled spring, allowing it to stretch and then return to its original shape, which gives wool excellent elasticity and makes it naturally resistant to wrinkles.
Strong: Wool fibres are strong and resilient, resisting tearing and abrasion even after being bent thousands of times. High-quality wool can last for years with proper care and maintenance.
Hypoallergenic: Wool is naturally resistant to bacteria, mould, mildew, and dust mites, making it a good choice for people with allergies, asthma, or sensitive skin.
Better sleep: Research has found that sleeping in wool can enhance sleep quality, help individuals fall asleep faster, and lead to deeper, more restorative sleep.
Resists dirt and static: Wool's natural moisture absorption reduces static electricity, so it attracts less dust and lint.
Odour-resistant: Wool fibres absorb moisture vapour and odour molecules from sweat, locking them away and releasing them during washing, keeping wool garments fresh for longer.
Flame-resistant: The high moisture and nitrogen content of wool make it naturally flame-retardant. It isn't easy to ignite, burns slowly, and self-extinguishes when the flame is removed, without melting or sticking to skin like synthetics.
Renewable and natural resource: Sheep need to be shorn annually to maintain their health, making wool a renewable and sustainable resource.
Biodegradable: Wool naturally decomposes, returning nutrients to the soil.
UV protection: Wool offers natural protection against the sun's UV radiation, with a much higher UV protection factor than most synthetics and cotton.

Solar Grazing
Here you see the sheep of All Sorts Acres Farm grazing under the solar panels of the Kitchener Ontario Campus of Conestoga College. The wool from our working sheep goes into making our fibre products.LEARN MORE
